Someone’s Favorite Productions (SFP) offers well-researched and entertaining audio commentaries, featurettes, interviews, and video essays for all genres of films. In addition, SFP offers audio/video editing, social media management and consulting, theatrical booking, captioning transcription, and marketing opportunities through our podcast consortium. Our team includes academics, film critics, journalists, and podcast hosts, all of whom are skilled researchers, writers, editors, and producers.
SFP originated as a partnership between Ryan Verrill, host of The Disc-Connected podcast and YouTube channel, and Dr. Will Dodson, professor of media studies and author of numerous books and essays on cinema. In 2021, Verrill began The Disc-Connected- a weekly YouTube livestream and podcast that discusses release announcements from boutique labels and interviews label personnel, filmmakers, special features producers, and physical media enthusiasts. Dodson came across an interview by Verrill with Jared Auner of Mondo Macabro in early 2022. He thought the interview was compelling and reached out to Verrill to book time to talk about his recent book, American Twilight: The Cinema of Tobe Hooper. They found instant chemistry and discovered an opportunity to contribute an audio commentary to an upcoming release, and so they decided to make a company out of it. One of Verrill’s catchphrases on The Disc-Connected is, “every movie is someone’s favorite movie.” The positive sentiment and appreciation for all films seemed an appropriate ethic for the company, and Someone’s Favorite Productions was born.
